Hi! My name is Nicholas and I recently became a member of the YAAY committee! In this position I will be posting updates and stories on events, retreats and traveling youth groups. Here is my experience of ALF 2024!
I attended ALF from October 25 to 27, which was hosted by Gordon King Memorial United Church—also known as the big red church. The theme for the weekend was Sharing the Torch. In our home groups, we got to create our own countries, each with unique attributes and symbols.

ALF 2024 was a fun and lively two-night retreat that was full of creativity and connection. I got to take part in lots of activities like crafts, games, singing and dancing. There were so many chances to have fun and laugh with others which made it easy to build real friendships. My home group was a place where we could share ideas and work together to make some great memories.

To end the weekend, the other participants and I helped lead the Sunday service at Gordon King Memorial United Church. We shared songs, readings and some thoughts from our time at ALF. It was a nice way to wrap up the retreat and feel connected to the larger church community.

After two full days of activities, the other participants and I were pretty tired but happy from everything we got to do and all the new friendships we made.

Thank you to all the volunteers who made this event possible!
