Leadership activity

May 13 to 15, 2022, the Prairie to Pine YAAY committee held a youth leadership event, to give youth and young adults a chance to connect and practice their leadership skills.

40 youth attended bowling on Friday evening. 25 youth attended the leadership activities, and 55 people of all ages attended a dance at St. Mary’s Road United on Saturday evening. The dance floor was full most of the night!

Youth shared in worship leadership with Churchill Park UC minister, Dawn Rolke

Sunday worship was done in partnership with Churchill Park UC. We were welcomed with open arms. The youth provided the message, the music, read the prayers and scripture and Dawn Rolke (minister) tied it all together beautifully!

The majority of the youth were from Winnipeg, but there were  youth from each of Sanford, Selkirk, Anola, Portage la Prairie, La Riviere, Brandon, Waskada and, thanks to a grant from Vision Fund, 2 youth flew in from Oxford House.

Livestream of worship is posted on CPUC’s youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ScmB9waGXVE. Livestreaming has its challenges. The song lyrics are a little muffled but you can feel the energy, and with lyrics posted, you can still sing along! While the audio of the stories is picked up clearly, unfortunately, the camera did not find the first speaker! Even so, those stories, and the service in general, is certainly worth taking in, if you wish to feel a sense of hope for our church’s future.
