The 2021 Annual Meeting of the Prairie to Pine Regional Council was held virtually from Friday, May 28 to Sunday, May 30. Our theme was “Our Place in the Rainbow” We started off with an uplifting worship which including our “In Memoriam” folks and the business portion of the meeting completed. 14 Commissioners were elected to attend the 44th General Council in 2022.
We honoured our retirees, we covenanted with some Communities of Faith, and we celebrated a new Admittand, Christopher Davis. The inclusion of many voices in different languages made this an enriching experience.
We listened to the Moderator’s video and listened to an extraordinarily rich and informative presentation by Gloria Cook, Indigenous Elder. The news of the 215 children who were found in a mass unmarked grave on the grounds of the former Kamloops Residential School opened a door for us to mourn for these relatives, their families, and their communities” and gave us an opportunity to take time to reflect on our sad past.
The Mission and Service Fundraiser with the “Masked Singers” was a hit, raising over $8.500 for the Mission and Service Fund. A new feature, a Games Night, was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Our meeting culminated with a celebration of our region becoming an Affirming Ministry, with communion and a time to make a joyful noise followed by a virtual Rainbow dessert party.
Many thanks to all those who planned and worked hard to make this Annual Meeting a success and special “thank you to our Tech Team” the staff and to all the delegates and visitors who attended. A summary of the meeting’s proceedings will be available soon.
