Did you know that running our Regional Council and accepting requests from our ecumenical and secular partners takes 100 volunteers, give or take?
Prairie to Pine is heading into our Regional meeting in Selkirk. At regional meetings, terms for positions come to an end, and new three year cycle begins. As a Region we deeply thank those leaving, those staying on, and those who are new to their roles. Because of them, we can exist as a community and carry out our shared ministry together. There are not enough words in enough languages to thank these generous people for their time, thoughtfulness, faithful commitment, and many gifts.
Sometimes, understanding how the Regional Council actually works is a barrier to people volunteering. That’s understandable; we can be a bit complicated. But please know there is a place for you! We have a couple of ways to help.
Structures document: from bird’s eye view to all the details
To learn more about all the opportunities to serve the Regional Council, and to understand the work of the Regional Council better, please view our Structures Document (PDF). It offers a bird’s eye view, a little more detail about our governance and partners, and then more detail about all the committees and the opportunities they offer. We hope you will find yourself and your gifts reflected in it.
Talk to the Nominations Committee!
And all of these many positions are filled by you, with the assistance of our awesome Nominations Committee, which strives to match your gifts to the church’s needs and opportunities. Their base camp web page is here, and opportunities and spaces to connect will be shared here. As well, Nominations is always ready to talk with you- to discern together, to explain how a committee works, and much more. Please be on touch. Their email is on their web page, and you can also contact them through the Regional Council office, whose details are posted at the bottom of every page on this site.
