Youth at Prairie to Pine Regional Meeting

Once every 3 years, youth have an opportunity to attend the youth program at the Annual General Meeting of the Prairie to Pine Region .
Participating in the youth program at Regional Meeting is a bit like being at a youth retreat with peers, while also being an opportunity to connect with adults in our region and learn what it’s like to be part of the work and life of our wider faith community. This year the regional meeting is being held at Selkirk United Church, May 28th to 31st, 2026 (Thursday evening to Sunday after worship). Parents, we hope you will excuse your youth from school Friday, to participate in this great opportunity for spiritual growth and community building.
The youth as a whole will be the Spirit Squad, but each youth will also be part of a smaller group that will allow them to participate in age-appropriate ways.
- Spirit Seekers – The youngest group (approx grade 4 to 6)
- Spirit Explorers – The middle group (approx grade 7 to 9)
- Spirit Followers – The oldest group (approx grade 10 and up, including young adult)
Spirit Seekers will spend some time in the meetings, and some time doing other activities with their age group peers. For the evenings and nights they will go with the adult they came with.
Spirit Explorers will do similarly during the meetings, but will spend the evenings and over-night with the older youth.
Spirit Followers will experience the whole of the meetings, will be able to attend workshops of their choice, and will spend evenings and overnights together as a group of youth.
The youth will be accommodated at Knox Presbyterian Church, just across the street from the meetings. We will sleep on the floor as we do at retreats.
The cost is $125 (or 100 for early-bird by Apr 15) for those staying over-night; $75 (or 65 for early bird) for Spirit Seekers. Subsidy is available for anyone for whom the cost would stop them from attending. Just check off that option in the form.
We hope you will give this once-every-three-years opportunity a try. You might love it, as I, and many other youth have in the past. If not, it’s only a weekend, and you will most certainly still take away something of value!
