Join Carmen as she discusses her new book, Wearing a Broken Indigene Heart on the Sleeve of Christian Mission.
A member of Haíłzaqv (Heiltsuk) First Nation and an ordained minister in The United Church of Canada, Lansdowne explores how we might understand Christian mission in order to transform the relationship between Indigenous peoples and the church, and transform the church itself. She seeks to answer the question: If Indigenous hearts are broken by Christianity, can Christian theology be life giving at all?
“In this long awaited book, Lansdowne gives us her broken heart. An unwavering
indigenous and unapologetic Christian heart. From a deep Indigenous knowledge, she
offers a dialogue that will demand changes. But that is the only way to start healing
wounds that were opened more than 500 years ago. How desperately we need her
voice!”—Cláudio Carvalhaes, Union Theological Seminary, New York City
