SUMMARY:Women Wage Peace
DESCRIPTION:You are warmly welcome to attend “Women for a Just Peace—In Palestine\, Israel and at home” on Sunday\, April 26\, at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Workshops on storytelling and practical tools for difficult conversations will be held in the afternoon\, and the evening program features keynote speaker Amal Elsana Alhjooj\, a Bedouin\, Palestinian feminist who is a professor at McGill University\, in conversation with Rabbi Donna Kirshbaum\, one of the co-founders of Women Wage Peace. This conference is jointly hosted by the CMHR and Women Wage Peace. It is sponsored by Westworth United Church and the New Israel Fund (The New Israel Fund (NIF) is a non-profit organization that supports equality\, economic justice\, religious freedom\, democracy\, and full and sustainable Palestinian rights in Israel and the Occupied Territories.) \n(Women Wage Peace is a group of Israeli and Palestinian women of Muslim\, Jewish\, Druze\, Bedouin and Christian identities. Founded in the aftermath of the 50-day Gaza War of 2014\, Women Wage Peace has grown to 50\,000 Israeli members—the largest grassroots peace movement in Israel today. It works with its sister Palestinian organization\, Women of the Sun\, to call for an end to the fighting in Israel and Palestine and commit to a diplomatic resolution for justice\, peace and security for all. These negotiations must include women’s participation.)
