DESCRIPTION:Augustine United Church \n444 River Avenue \nFree Will Offering \nAll proceeds go to Augustine United Church \nMessage from Gordon Light\,\nWhen Ian Macdonald and Jim Uhrich started as a team ministry at Augustine in 1979\, I had been the priest at St Luke’s\, Anglican Church on Stradbrook for 2 years. I remember going over to introduce myself to them and discovering a common love for making music. We became close friends and continued that friendship through our various moves over the years. The friendship generated a partnership that became Common Cup which still exists. Bob Wallace (who came to be minister at St. Stephens’s Broadway during those early days) joined us. Bob and I are still members of the group\, which now includes Scott McDonald (another Anglican and our drummer from Edmonton)\, Richard Betts (UCC\, our bass player from Calgary) and Lloyd MacLean (UCC\, our pianist from Pictou County\, Nova Scotia.) On our Website – commoncup.com – there is a brief history of our group\, and a tribute to Jim and Ian. \nCommon Cup is now winding down. We are planning a few more concerts and thought it might be nice to finish by honoring our beginnings in Winnipeg.\nThis a concert to give thanks and remember Ian and Jim’s ministry from our earliest days in Winnipeg and in the years following.

DESCRIPTION:If you are a grade 7 to 12 youth\, we welcome you to register for the upcoming region-wide youth retreat\, being held at St. Mary’s Road United Church in Winnipeg\, Friday Oct 20th at 6:30 pm to Sunday\, Oct 22nd at 1:00 pm. \n\nA great opportunity to make friends with other youth from across the United Church’s Prairie to Pine Region while exploring the theme through Worship\, Song and Inter-active Theme Times.  The retreat wouldn’t be complete without social time — dancing\, games\, chatting over meals (and canteen treats)! …and then rolling out your sleeping bag on the church floor to dream sweet dreams surrounded by new and old friends resting up for another busy exciting day! \nThis retreat’s theme is “Lost in Translation: The History of the Bible\, How it has Changed through the Ages\, and Whose Voices are Missing.” \nWhose voices do you think are missing from the Bible?
