Why were they lonely? \nThis year\, Interesting Theatre will provide our answers with Where They Come From: A Meditation on Eleanor Rigby\, written and directed by Tim Higgins. \nAct One will feature the Haskins Street Band as they explore the musical influences that informed the Fab Four’s remarkable creativity and led them to Eleanor. \nIn Act Two\, the company of Interesting Theatre tackles the questions more directly. The story is set in Winnipeg\, in the winter of 1920. Supported by The Elleston Trio\, you’ll watch two lives become intertwined in ways that neither could have imagined. \nWhere They Come From: A Meditation on Eleanor Rigby will be staged in the Sanctuary of Young United Church\, 222 Furby Street\, on Friday and Saturday\, April 1st and 2nd. DESCRIPTION:Knox United Church in Winnipeg invites youth from across the region\, who self-identify as BIPOC (Black\, Indigenous\, or People of Colour) to explore foods\, arts\, sports and worship that represent some of the diversity of our United Church family. \n  \nPariticipants will be guided by: \n\nlocal cooks to join in preparing a special recipe while learning about their culture\nmusicians and dancers to learn a song or dance\nsports enthusiasts to play a game of basketball or soccer\nleaders to frame it all as an act of worship where we will thank God for the beautiful diverse gifts that we share with our church and our world\n\nOrganizing team: Lesley Harrison\, Hyerim Park\, Sabry Abodigin\, Kwang Beom Cho\, Selina Santos and Twila MacNair \nRegister by Sept. 16th. \nRegister Here\nIf getting to Winnipeg might be a problem\, email Twila (see below) to see if we can help make it possible.

DESCRIPTION:Where They Come From: A Meditation on Eleanor Rigby \nIn 1966\, Paul McCartney wrote a remarkable song—Eleanor Rigby. Over the ensuing decades\, fascination with Eleanor and Father McKenzie has only grown. Who were they? Why were they lonely? \nThis year\, Interesting Theatre will provide our answers with Where They Come From: A Meditation on Eleanor Rigby\, written and directed by Tim Higgins. \nAct One will feature the Haskins Street Band as they explore the musical influences that informed the Fab Four’s remarkable creativity and led them to Eleanor. \nIn Act Two\, the company of Interesting Theatre tackles the questions more directly. The story is set in Winnipeg\, in the winter of 1920. Supported by The Elleston Trio\, you’ll watch two lives become intertwined in ways that neither could have imagined. \nWhere They Come From: A Meditation on Eleanor Rigby will be staged in the Sanctuary of Young United Church\, 222 Furby Street\, on Friday and Saturday\, April 1st and 2nd. Curtain is 7:30 both nights. Tickets are $20 (plus agency fees) and are available on EventBrite. Proof of vaccination and wearing of mask will be required.
