DESCRIPTION:If you are a grade 7 to 12 youth\, we welcome you to register for the upcoming region-wide youth retreat\, being held at Gordon King Memorial United Church in Winnipeg\, MB\, Friday\, Oct 25th to Sunday\, Oct 27th. \nMake friends with other youth from across the United Church’s Prairie to Pine Region while exploring an Olympics inspired theme through Worship\, Song\, and Inter-active “Sharing the Torch” Theme Times.  The retreat wouldn’t be complete without social time — dancing\, games\, chatting over meals (and canteen treats)! …and then rolling out your sleeping bag on the church floor to dream sweet dreams surrounded by new and old friends resting up for another busy exciting day! \nThe retreat is planned by young people for young people. \nInvite your friends\, neighbours\, cousins (the ones you see often and the ones you would like to see more often!) \nHaven’t been to a retreat before?  – See: Retreat description for potential participants. \nTo allow all to attend\, no matter their family’s financial status\, the fee is suggested on a “pay what you can” scale from full fee of $95 down to $0. \n\nFirst time registrant fee stays the same right up until the deadline\, to give us time to get the word out to new families – $80\n\nAll return retreat-goers: \n\n$5 off early bird fee if registered by 10am Sept 14th -$80\nEarly bird fee if registered by Sept 26th – $85\nRegistration deadline: Oct 14th – $95\n\nREGISTER HERE \nWe are also looking for leaders age 16+.  Interested?  Apply here ASAP.

How can we celebrate our home\, while also acknowledging the harm we have created? \nPlease join the St. Andrew’s River Heights Choir and Handbells at For the Earth\, a climate-themed concert on Friday\, November 22\, 7:00pm as we consider these questions through music and readings. The concert features the Western Canada premiere of Canadian composer Paul Aitken’s new work “Missa Pro Terra\,” a poignant re-imagining of the traditional mass setting for choir and soloists. Entry is by donation ($20 suggested)\, and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to climate initiatives.

DESCRIPTION:Westminster United Church is hosting what is hoped to be the ‘first annual’ Sing-Along Messiah on November 30\, 2024. This event is free to the community\, and we welcome all those interested in joining Westminster’s Soloists and Friends\, along with a chamber orchestra\, as we sing through the Christmas portion and highlights of Handel’s masterwork\, Messiah\, a work that has been consistently performed in Winnipeg since at least 1948. Participants are welcome to bring their own scores or borrow one of ours (while supplies last). Donations will be warmly received in support of Westminster United Church and the Sanctuary Ceiling Restoration Fund\, and there will be refreshments available for purchase. Please note that all recognized donations over $10 are eligible for a tax receipt.

DESCRIPTION:Blue Christmas – a Service of Hope and Remembrance will take place at Trinity United Church Brandon (1515- 6th Street) on Friday\, December 20th at 7:00 pm. For many people\, the Christmas season does not bring with it the joy and happiness that is often associated with this time of year. Individuals may be facing the holiday after the death of a loved one; after a separation or divorce; facing illness with a loved one or self and so forth. This service will have more of a quiet\, somber feel and the scriptures\, music and meditation will be focused on the comfort God offers during dark times.
