SUMMARY:Neechi Camp
DESCRIPTION:Neechi Camp will take place for the second year in a row in Ochekwi Sipi Cree Nation\, also named Fisher River\, MB. We will set up camp on the beautiful grassy area beside Fisher River United Church. We will use the church as our home base and other spaces in the community such as the brand new Red Turtle Lodge\, the river\, the land\, and the lake as additional places of learning. Neechi Camp will give Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth the opportunity to connect and build friendships while experiencing and learning about Indigenous culture through activities and ceremony led by elders and other community members. Youth will have the opportunity to: \n\ngo out in a boat to do net fishing\nclean\, prepare\, and fry the fresh fish\nmake a rattle to use in ceremony\nwatch and learn from traditional dancers (hoop dancing and pow wow dancing)\nlearn ceremonial drum songs\ntake part in a sweat lodge ceremony\ncook some of our meals\, play games\, enjoy a campfire\nlearn stories and a little bit of the Cree language from Elders as we gather in daily sharing circle\n\nRead a story by Bradley\, a camper at Neechi Camp 2025\, illustrated with photos taken at camp For youth 12 and 17 years old. SUMMARY:ALF 2026 Youth Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Theme: “Faith in Film”\nIf you are a grade 7 to 12 youth\, we welcome you to join us at Minnedosa United Church\, in Minnedosa\, MB from October 23rd to 25th to consider how movies inform our faith. \nMake friends with other youth from across the United Church’s Prairie to Pine Region while exploring the theme through Worship\, Song\, and Inter-active Theme Times.. \nThe retreat wouldn’t be complete without social time — dancing\, games\, chatting over meals (and canteen treats)! …and then rolling out your sleeping bag on a church floor to dream sweet dreams surrounded by new and old friends resting up for another busy exciting day! \nThe retreat is planned by young people for young people. \nInvite your friends\, neighbours\, cousins\, new buddies from summer camp. \nHaven’t been to a retreat before?  – See: Retreat description for potential participants. \nTo allow all to attend\, no matter their family’s financial status\, the fee is suggested on a “pay what you can” scale from full fee of $100 down to $25\, with discounts for early registration. \n\nFirst time registrants enjoy a discounted fee of $85 right up to the registration deadline\, to give us time to get the word out to new families\n\nAll return retreat-goers: \n\nLabour Day special – $5 off early bird fee if registered by Sept 7th -$85\nEarly bird fee if registered by Sept 23rd – $90\nRegistration deadline: Oct 12th – $100\n\nSubsidized fees of $50 or $25 are also offered in the registration form for use by those who need that option. \nREGISTER HERE \nWe are also looking for leaders age 16+.  Interested?  Apply here ASAP.
