DESCRIPTION:We invite you to a presentation by the Rev. Dr. Mac Watts entitled “The Hymns We Sang\, The Hymns We Still Sing – Celebrating 100 years of Hymnody” on Tuesday\, June 3 at 7:00 PM at Charleswood United Church\, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Winnipeg Dr. Watts was ordained by the UCC in 1953 and\, following pastorates and doctoral studies\, enjoyed a long career as professor and Dean of Theology at the University of Winnipeg until his retirement in 1994. His passion for the music of our tradition led him to be a part of the Winnipeg Presbytery Hymn Worship Committee for 35 years. Mac will be accompanied at the organ on June 3 by Dorcas Windsor (though we will all have a chance to sing!).  A reception in the Van Roon Hall will follow the presentation. Charleswood United Church is a fully accessible building with ample parking.

DESCRIPTION:Meridian Pastoral Charge will be celebrating the United Church of Canada’s 100th Anniversary on June 8th\, 2025 at 10 am at Sanford United Church in Sanford\, Manitoba. All three churches of the Meridian Pastoral Charge – Sanford United Church\, Avonlea United Church and Starbuck United Church are planning this celebration with invitations to special guests\, a luncheon\, sharing time\, church history displays\, and games. Congregants of all three community of faiths are asked to register with their local church by May 25th and to bring a lawn chair as some of the events will be outside – weather permitting. SUMMARY:ALF 2025 Youth Retreat
DESCRIPTION:If you are a grade 7 to 12 youth\, we welcome you to join us in Virden\, MB from October 24th to 26th to explore the history of the United Church in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the United Church of Canada. \nMake friends with other youth from across the United Church’s Prairie to Pine Region while exploring the theme through Worship\, Song\, and Inter-active Theme Times.  The retreat wouldn’t be complete without social time — dancing\, games\, chatting over meals (and canteen treats)! …and then rolling out your sleeping bag on a church floor to dream sweet dreams surrounded by new and old friends resting up for another busy exciting day! \nThe retreat is planned by young people for young people. \nInvite your friends\, neighbours\, cousins (the ones you see often and the ones you would like to see more often!) \nHaven’t been to a retreat before?  – See: Retreat description for potential participants. \nTo allow all to attend\, no matter their family’s financial status\, the fee is suggested on a “pay what you can” scale from full fee of $95 down to $0. \n\nFirst time registrant full fee stays the same right up until the deadline\, to give us time to get the word out to new families – $80\n\nAll return retreat-goers: \n\n$5 off early bird fee if registered by Sept 12th -$80\nEarly bird fee if registered by Oct 5th – $85\nRegistration deadline: Oct 15th – $95\n\nREGISTER HERE \nWe are also looking for leaders age 16+.  Interested?  Apply here ASAP.
